Is there a setup fee?
No. You pay the plan price and nothing else unless you choose an add-on.
When do I pay?
When you start your plan. Planning costs nothing: you can tell the assistant about your business, share your photos and agree a plan first. Your website is built as soon as the plan starts, and nothing goes public until you say so. You have 14 days to change your mind: cancel within 14 days of your first payment and it is refunded in full.
What counts as a design change?
A setting or some text is a simple change. Something that needs designing is a design change. The assistant takes care of simple changes, like your hours, a phone number, a price or a line of text, as part of your subscription. A design change, like a new section or page, a reworked page or a fresh look, is planned and designed, built, checked, and shown to you as a private preview to approve before it goes live. Corrections to a preview that is waiting for your approval are part of the same design change, and so is anything else you ask for while it waits: one preview, one design change. Things you type in yourself, such as a new event or a product price, and changes you make through your own AI tool are not counted.
What if I use all 5 design changes?
You can add 10 more for $5 at any time. Your 5 included design changes start fresh each month, and they do not roll over. Simple changes still go through as usual, and changes through your own AI tool keep working either way.
Do I have to have email?
No. Business email is something you choose to add. Your website works exactly the same without it.
Will my website mention Jaybird Digital?
Yes, quietly: a small “Website by Jaybird Digital” link at the bottom of every page, and “Sent with Jaybird Digital” at the end of the emails your website sends. It helps other small business owners find an affordable website, so thank you for spreading the word. If you would rather not have it, turn it off any time in your website’s Settings, or ask the assistant. Nothing else about your website or your plan changes.
Why are domain names separate?
A domain is registered once a year with a registry, and the price depends on the name. We keep it out of your monthly price so you only pay for the one you pick.
What if I decide to leave?
Cancel any time. If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, it is refunded in full; after that, your website stays online through the time you paid for. You can download your website's code and photos, or have a copy sent to your GitHub. After seven months on a plan this is free. Before that there is a one-time $50 charge, so a website made or moved for you cannot be taken as a one-time service.
